This page describes how to use the bulk update function for MESH block software. The bulk update function allows you to update multiple MESH block software at once.
Supported versions of the MESH app
- MESH App for Android version 1.15.1 or higher (for Android devices and Chromebooks)
Attention
- Please fully charge the MESH blocks before starting the update.
- Please keep MESH application open while updating the MESH blocks. Also, please keep the MESH blocks as close to the device as possible.
- During the MESH block update, the device will be temporarily connected to the MESH block, but will be disconnected after the update.
- If your device is Android 11 or higher, you may be asked to confirm the Bluetooth connection during the update process. If this happens, please allow it before proceeding.
Things to prepare

How to do a bulk update
- Turn on the MESH block you want to update in bulk.
- Open the MESH app and select in the upper right corner of the recipe editing screen.
- Select [App Settings].
- Scroll down the screen and select [Update].
- The instructions for the bulk update will be displayed. Select [Start] to proceed to the next step.
- MESH app automatically search and connect to each MESH block around you to confirm if it is to be updated. After the start of the process, the following dialog will be displayed as it is looking for surrounding MESH blocks.
- When the MESH block is found, the following dialog will appear as shown, and will automatically disappear after the connection is made.
If you see the following dialog, select [OK] to close it. If it appears repeatedly, refer to "Hint : If the error dialog appears repeatedly".
- The status bar of the connected MESH block will blink blue. If you want to update, press the icon part of the block once. If you do not want to update, or if you cannot find the blinking block, select [Skip to next] on the screen.
When the confirmation is complete, the status shown on the right side of the list will change to [Finish this step] and MESH app will be looking for the next block.

Once you have confirmed all the MESH blocks to be updated, select [Finish this step].
- The MESH blocks to be updated that you have checked will be listed. Select [Next] to proceed to the next step. If you want to add a block that is not on the list, select [Prev] and check the block for the addition.
- A confirmation dialog for starting the update will be displayed. If you want to turn off the block automatically after the update, check the box (default is off). Select [Start] to update.
If you are using Android 10 or lower, no further action is required until the update is complete.
If you are using Android 11 or higher, you may need to confirm each time you connect to the MESH block.
- The block will start to update. Please keep the MESH app open and the blocks turned on during the process. After the start of the process, the following dialog will be displayed as it is looking for the MESH block to be updated.
- When the MESH block is found, the following dialog will appear as shown, and will automatically disappear after the connection is made.
If you see the following dialog, select [OK] to close it. If it appears repeatedly, refer to "Hint : If the error dialog appears repeatedly".
- The found block will be updated. When the update is complete, it will automatically proceed to update the next block.

When the update is complete, the result list dialog will appear as shown below. You can check the number of blocks that have been updated or not yet completed.
The bulk update procedure for the block software is completed on this screen.

Hint: If a block was not updated
The reason why the block was not updated will be displayed for each block in the result list as below.
List of reasons why it was not updated
- Canceled
- This is the case when the update was canceled by you, or interrupted due to a problem with the Bluetooth function of the device.
- If there is a problem with the Bluetooth function of the device, restart the device.
- Connection failed
- This is the case when the MESH block cannot be found or connected for a certain period of time.
- Make sure that the MESH block is turned on, place it near the device, and try to update again.
- Update failed
- This is the case when the MESH block could not be updated.
- Make sure that the MESH block is turned on, place it near the device, and try to update again.
- Aborted due to low battery
- This is the case when the MESH block was not updated due to low battery power.
- Please fully charge the MESH block and try to update again.

Hint : If the error dialog appears repeatedly
If you see the following screen, select [OK] to close the screen and follow the subsequent dialogs.
If you get the same error message repeatedly, please try the following steps.
- Please make sure the MESH block is turned on, place it near your device, and try updating again.
- If the MESH block does not turn on, please reset the block (Press and hold the icon of the MESH block for about 10 seconds).
- Please make sure that the MESH app is working properly and the Bluetooth connection function of your device is working properly.
- Turn off the Bluetooth function from the device's settings and then turn it on again.
- Restart the MESH application.
- Restart the device.
